One of the interesting things about making friends during a deployment is that you get to know people really well without knowing, or even having met, their husbands. You spend so much time with these other women that you feel like you know them completely — until all of the men return home. Then you realize that there is a whole part of your friends that you weren’t able to see before. Brad is my better half, and I am not the same person, or even complete, without him. It is the same for my friends. When families are finally reunited it is exciting to get to know my friends all over again, as part of a whole family. Cristine is one of my favorite people and her friendship (and incredible cooking!) helped me get through the deployment. But Cristine and Nate really belong together, and anytime you are with this family you can tell how much they all love each other. I got to take pictures of Anya and Eric all the time while their daddy was gone, but I am so glad that I got to capture this family the way they should be — together!
By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRISTINE!
