Months ago Brad and I decided that we needed to take one last trip – together, just the two of us – before I got too big to travel and before we had three children under the age of three to try to haul around with us. (Not that we won’t try!) Brad’s brother and sister-in-law were nice enough to volunteer to watch Anni for four days so we could have some much needed alone time. I have been dying to visit these Italian coastal villages for a while now, so I think Brad booked the tickets here just for me. (He is a great guy that way). It was the perfect vacation; we left Baumholder in hats and scarves with the rain coming down and arrived in Italy to find sunshine and temperatures in the high 60′s and 70′s. We slept in, we sat on park benches and on the breakwater and ate focaccia bread, we hiked the trail between villages, we took pictures, read books, and ate plenty of seafood and pasta. Some of my food may or may not have been still looking at me, but that is a different story. By the end we were anxious to see Annika again and reunite with my Dad for another weekend together. I am not sure that Annika missed us; she hasn’t stopped talking about Tammy and her cousins.
In other news, we had an ultrasound the other day and both babies are extremely healthy and active. They are growing well and both weigh 1 lb 6 oz. Besides becoming increasingly uncomfortable I am still in good health and don’t have any restrictions yet, for which I am very grateful. The doctor didn’t even want to see us again for another four weeks. As we celebrate Thanksgiving we found we have much to be thankful for.
