. . . is one of Annika’s new favorite phrases. She is becoming more and more independent all the time. She likes to pick out her own clothes (which means that she wears her ballerina skirt or “princess dress” almost everyday) and will spend a long time trying to dress and undress herself, mostly unsuccessfully. The other morning when we were downstairs for breakfast she decided that she wanted to go out in the snow on our back patio, and so went and found a hat and set to work trying to put her boots on by herself. We let her pick the rest of the outfit, helped her put it on, and all went outside . . . for about 3 minutes. It was freezing!

You might remember the pinecone in the next picture from a few posts back. The birds don’t find it very often, but when they do, Anni gets very excited and has to show me how the birds are eating her “present” for them.

It was much too cold to stay outside for long — especially in our pajamas.
