When I found out I was pregnant with twins, I had lots of other mothers of twins tell me how wonderful it was, how there is something special about the relationship between your twins. I was scared to death and I figured they were just saying that to help me feel better. Also, I have great relationships with my siblings, so I thought “sure, all siblings have a special bond. I don’t need to have two at one time for that.” I am beginning to understand what those other Moms were talking about. My girls love each other, and it is a different relationship than with Annika. (Although all three do get along fantastically, and I’ll have to blog about that later.)
They babble to each other, they laugh at each other, and they hold hands while they are together. One time I tried to put Elise to bed before Lucy, and she cried and cried until I brought Lucy to bed too. I think part of the reason they are so easy is that they have each other. Sometimes when they are falling asleep, they play with each other’s hands as they drift off. I’ve been meaning to take pictures of it for a while, but when I got my camera out the other day, I thought a video would be more fun. I love having twins. I honestly wasn’t sure that I would. I can’t picture my life without two babies, these two in particular.

Also, I love they they suck their thumbs (or fingers, in Lucy’s case). I know, it may develop into a horrible habit and they may have crooked teeth and maybe they’ll still be sucking their thumbs when they go to college, but for now they sleep 12+ hours at night and I don’t have to endanger the whole family by trying to reach back and hand them binkies in the car. Plus, it’s so dang cute.
