Two years ago, when Annika was just starting to toddle around and Brad was deployed to Iraq, I volunteered to help my good friend Kelly coach the High School softball team. I was a bit hesitant at first, since I had a little baby, and no husband (and it was always freezing outside), but I am so glad that I did! I loved getting to know the girls on the team, and it was great for me to be outside everyday, to have something to keep me busy, and to feel like a part of the community. Wende was our first baseman, and a co-captain that year, and it is hard for me to believe that now she is graduating! She told me that she wants to be a teacher, and I sure hope she follows through with that. She is a wonderful person and our country needs more teachers (and more people) like her. Softball season is just starting, and Wende tells me that there are quite a few home games this year, so you should make it a point to come out and see the girls play. I think you’ll find me and my three girls cheering from the bench!

Laura – 2011 Senior

I was so glad that Laura brought her family along for her senior pictures. When I was in high school my Mom stayed up so many nights reading and editing my papers, she sat through countless softball games in the rain, she sewed my homecoming and prom dresses, she drove hours to watch me play in state basketball championships, and she was always pushing me to be a better version of myself. Anything I accomplished in high school was her accomplishment as much as mine, and I wish that I had more pictures like these to document our relationship at that stage in my life.

Laura is beautiful, happy, and easy to get a long with. Spending the day with her and her mom and sister was a delight. I wish her the best of luck in the rest of her senior year and wherever else her life will take her next. I am sure she will be great at whatever she chooses to do. Thanks, Laura! Changing of the Seasons

It has been a while since I have posted here, and a lot of things have changed.

The weather has gone from this:

As you can see, I have quite a bit of blogging to catch up on.

The weather isn’t the only thing changing, either. My girls are growing up fast, and I feel like we are entering new seasons of life in our family. Lucy and Elise are my perpetual babies; they are 10 months old now, but they are just growing into their 6-9 month clothes, neither of them have any teeth yet, and they aren’t in any hurry to be truly mobile. I don’t mind. I still get gummy smiles and I don’t have to chase two girls going in opposite directions (yet). However, they are getting to be adept little scooters and since I am constantly scooping things out of their mouths, my floors seem dirtier than before. They are not content to be ignored and even though they don’t have teeth, they want to be eating with the family and feeding themselves. I spend a lot of time cleaning up cheerios and smashed bananas. They have opinions and desires and favorites, and it is fun to see their personalities emerging. Annika is one of their favorites and is growing into a wonderful big sister. Today she was showing Lucy “flash cards” which were really just black and white pictures for babies. But as I was changing Elise’s diaper I heard her saying “Lucy, do you see any letters you know? Look at this, Lucy. When you get bigger you are going to go to school, and you can’t go to school unless you learn your letters.” Lucy just babbled away. I have to work hard for smiles, but as soon as Anni enters a room, her sisters light up. I can’t wait to see their friendships develop as they grow.

I was a little reluctant to come back to a dark, cold, German winter, but I shouldn’t have been. Christmas in Europe is wonderful, magical even. The blanket of snow has only made things merrier. I can’t wait to share more, but here are a few random pictures before I leave you and go to bed.

Christy ~ Baumholder 2011 Senior

I’ve known Christy for a couple of years now, and I was very excited to take some senior pictures for her. Christy has a style all her own and she was up for anything, which made my job not only easy, but tons of fun. Christy is going to be a senior rep for me this year, which means that if you want a great senior picture experience, Christy will be able to tell you everything you need to know (and she might just be able to hook you up, too.) Just so you know, I’m taking my girls to the United States for an extended trip at the end of September. We’re not going to be back until the first week of November, so now would be a great time to schedule your session. (Especially if you want pictures before all the leaves fall off the trees).

Christy and I are going to get together again for some more pictures after school starts, but I couldn’t wait until then to share some of my favorites.

Molly | Baumholder High School Senior

We had to reschedule this session a couple of times and I was beginning to think that we might have to shoot in the rain, but luck was on our side and we got a beautiful evening. I love taking pictures of high school seniors and Molly was no exception. She is a beautiful, fun, intelligent girl and I am so glad I got to meet her. Thanks Molly, for such a good time, and for making my first photoshoot since the twins so easy. I hope you love your sneak peek!

Keyanna {Senior Sneak Peek}

I’ll probably post more from this session later, there were so many great shots, but I wanted to get some up now for Keyanna. When I coached softball last year Keykey was one of my players and I was thrilled to be able to see her again. I loved being her coach, and I loved being her photographer! We started her session at Burg Thallichtenberg, which I thought was a great idea. What a unique way to remember a senior year in Germany — with pictures in a castle! Thanks again, Keykey! I hope you love them!

Hey Seniors! Check it Out!

These are some great packages designed just for seniors. They are a great deal and all packages can be customized so that you are sure to get what you want. Also, I’ll shoot two seniors at the same time for one price. You can either split up your package or pay a little extra to double all of the prints included in your session. So, if you know any seniors, send them my way. I promise that it will be completely relaxed and we will have a great time. This post will now be permanently under the “senior prices” header.

A Big Sneak Peek for Andrew

We’re home again! Our trip was wonderful and two weeks wasn’t long enough. We saw lots and lots of family, celebrated at Wendy’s wedding, spent a week at the family cabin near Yellowstone, went fishing, ate too much good food, and finally got some time to relax. Annika got spoiled by cousins, aunts and uncles, and her grandparents. She fell in love with the family dogs, and every morning ran to the front door and asked for “Ebba” (Emma). She learned how to fish, and loved all the time she spent outside. We really do love Europe, but we will be happy to live closer to family again when our tour here is done.

I was excited to be able to shoot my cousin Andrew’s senior pictures while we stayed at his house for a night. I love working with families, but taking pictures of kids can be tough sometimes, and my daughter is the worst. They are generally less than excited to be in front of a camera. Seniors, on the other hand, actually want to be there and are a blast. Baumholder seniors, stay posted, because I am coming up with some great packages for you! I usually only post a few pictures from my sessions, but there were so many that I loved of Andrew, I had to give him a bigger sneak peek. Andrew, thanks for being a good sport, even when I made you stand on Main Street forever. I hope the embarrassment was worth it. Keep me posted on the college hunt.

So, here’s my good looking cousin Andrew. I’ll have to put up a couple pictures I took of my brother Jordan, later. He and Andrew look remarkably alike.

Look! They’re Big!

It has taken me forever, but check it out! I am figuring out how to put pictures up so that they are BIG!

I seriously had a really good time taking pictures with Shauna last week. We had some great models that were very patient as I tried to figure out some new ways of focusing and shooting. So, thanks again, Edgar! I hope that the trip to Barcelona was fantastic!

And could this guy get any cuter? He was busy doing some serious exploring and did not want the lady with the camera to get in his way. He had work to do! I wish Annika had been there; I think they would have really hit it off. I’ve seen this look coming from her quite a few times.

Birthday and BIZ CLASS

Today’s my birthday and I am now 24 years old! I am closing in on a quarter of a century! I am leaving like right now to go hang out with my wonderful friends, but I wanted to post a couple of my favorite pictures from my CRASHcourse with Shauna the other day. I had an awesome time — not only is Shauna a blast to hang out with, but I learned a ton about photography and business and making it all work. Plus, we had some great models!

So, Erica Holland Photography is here for real! Get ready for some awesome deals and a lot of great photography. I am really going to work on updating this blog much more often, so keep checking back. If nothing else, I should have lots of pictures of Annika to post, and she is a good lookin’ kid!
